Did you know that Lubbock is at the heart of the Texas High Plains American Viticultural Area (AVA)? Of the approximately eight million acres covered by the Texas High Plains AVA, about 4,000 acres are planted to vines. This area cultivates over 80% of Texas wine grapes. Our warm daytime temperatures help to mature grapes, and the cool nighttime temperatures preserve the grapes’ acidity. While we’ve learned to associate Cabernet Sauvignon with Napa Valley, the world is learning to associate Tempranillo with Texas. We hope this list will inspire you to drink more wine from the Texas High Plains AVA!

Adelphos Cellars

The wines of Adelphos Cellars are exclusively from Texas grapes and mostly from the owners’ family estate vineyard near Lorenzo, Texas, called Cerro Santo Vineyard. Bingham Family Vineyards

Burklee Hill Vineyards

Reservations are recommended. They source the majority of their grapes from the family vineyard called Krick Hill, near Levelland, Texas. Their wines are made 100% with grapes grown on the Texas High Plains.
